Sidestays

Sidestays, founded in 1968, is an auxiliary organization of Lake Beulah Yacht Club open to all women members of the club. It is a social group fostering club traditions and friendships and providing new and interesting activities in addition to supporting the Lake Beulah Sailing School and Yacht Club.

Sidestays’ fundraising efforts helped Lake Beulah Olympic bound sailors and the sailing school, contributed kitchen and club supplies, and funded the existing exterior club sign. This year Sidestays’ plans include helping with the sailing school’s primary fundraising activity and providing trophies for the weekday Class X Series. 

Sidestays will also host three Lunch & Learn events on June 26,  July 24, and August 14, 2025 which you won’t want to miss. The cost of the Lunch & Learn events is included with the annual Sidestays’ membership fee. 

Sidestays’ general meetings will be on June 10 and August 26. Please mark your calendars to attend. There are some new ideas up for discussion and new activities and projects in the works. After 57 years the organization has evolved along with the club and its members, and it will continue to evolve. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of the Sidestays’ board members with questions and/or suggestions, so you are part of its future.

Please join us this year. The easiest way to join is as part of your LBYC membership renewal process, but you can join at any time. We want to include more women in more ways.

Memoir Workshop

Sidestays Memoir Writers group continues during summer! 

All Sidestays and guests welcome. Bring a piece to share, if you like (optional but encouraged!). Help other writers by giving some feedback, get some tips on memoir writing, hear some great personal stories! It's okay to drop in when you can. This group is looking to develop some lake stories to share with the whole club at some point, but all stories are welcome.
