9 Teams from Beulah joined the fleet of 42 for the C ILYA Championship. Frank Davenport & Cullen Barr sailing B-303 took 2nd in Race 1.
After a tough first race (24), Will Haeger & Brad Roble won Race 2. Annie & Luke finished 2nd moving them into 4th overall after two races and Frank & Cullen held onto 3rd with an 11. Ben Porter crewing on N-181 with Peter Keck, put up a 3 & 4 and are sitting nicely in 2nd with 7 points to Andy Burdick's 4 in first.
Michael & Brigit Barr take Race 3 win rocketing them up the to 6th overall. Not much changed at the very top with Burdick, Kick and Annie Haeger holding on to 1, 2, 3 after 3 races. Frank & Cullen are hanging in, rounding out the top 5. Anne Muller & Joe Sko into 8th after nice finishes in Races 2 & 3. Will & Brad round out Beulah's presence in the top 10 at 9th overall. That's 5 B-boats in the top 10 thru three races.
Day 2 dawned with breeze. Will Haeger & Brad Roble headed to the front of the fleet and add a second race win to their scorecard in Race 4. Michael & Brigit Barr followed in 2nd. After 3 races the leader and second place have flip flopped, Annie Haeger (3), Michael Barr (3), Will Haeger moving up fast with the race wins into fourth. Anne Muller & Joe Sko also made a move up one to 7. Frank & Cullen had a rough start to the day and drop down to 10.
Race 5 - we have a new race winner Peter Keck & Ben Porter on N-181, extend their lead. Annie & Luke take 3rd and hold their position strong. Breeze must have gotten pretty high as a few boats did not finish with some electing to head in and skip the race all together. Breeze on, 3rd's on. Hope it stays under limits for the afternoon!
Cullen Barr gives the thumbs up before racing begins. Frank Davenport skipping.
Michael & Brigit Barr (Race 3 winner)
Will Haeger, Brad Roble, Matthew Ward (Race 2 & 4 winners)
Wow! Peter Keck from Nagawicka along with Beulah's Ben Porter were the winning teams for both the As and Cs. This is the third consecutive C Championship for Keck and Porter. But lest they think this is historic, Boober Schneider did it and so did Andy Burdick (the later years after he compiled six consecutive wins in his younger years). But the real story is Beulah's SIX teams in the top ten. They also won six of the seven races.
1st - Peter Keck, Ben Porter, Morgan Keck
2nd - Will Haeger, Brad Roble, Matthew Ward
3rd - Annie Haeger, Luke Ramsay, Ella Muller & Finley Nyhus (Clear Lake)
7th - Michael Barr, Brigit Barr, Hailey Greeson
8th - Anne Muller & Joe Sko with cast of 3rds - Silas Trester (Cedar), Ellie Wisely (White Bear), Finely Nyhus
10th - Kent Haeger, Michael Greeson, Riley Greeson

Five Beulah sailors made the trip to Clear Lake, IA for the 2024 ILYA Championship. What a mix of conditions they were handed, Day 1 - No Breeze, Day 2 - Started again on shore, but managed 3 races, Day 3 - saw the fleet head out, but race abanndoned due to breezes exceeding fleet limits. When it was all said and done Chris Kubicek took 10th as the top Beulah boat. Christy Will took home the top female award with a 33rd finish overall.

Team Jarecki is on board with Dave Keck on the V-399. With a solid first day of 8, 11, 11 finishes, they added a 14 to start out day two. They sit just outside the top ten in 11th after 4 races, primed to move on up! With building breezes the E fleet completed race 5 with Keck/Jarecki holding onto 11th with a solid 12th place finish. Several boats were scored as retired, author hopes those were due to the breezes and not any incidents on the race course.
