2013 - the Late-season Updates

Joe Skotarzak  | Published on Saturday, March 15, 2014

Winter comes to Lake Beulah

There's snow on the grass, a couple dustings so far.  There's ice on the pond, the forecast says it's here to stay.  There's hats on the girls, to ward off the chill.  Winter has come to Lake Beulah.

It's the Off-season

All quiet on the Beulah front as the leaves turn and fall and the snowbirds head south.  Carol and co. have put together the last Mainsheet of the year - see it in full color right here:  MAINSHEET  Happy offseason!

C Worlds on Delevan

Katie Porter missed it this year - busy planning a wedding and all, and watching Anne's kids - and that left the door wide open for John Porter with Al Haeger aboard to take the coveted World Championship of C boat racing!  A good and spirited group of B-boats made the short trip south.  On Saturday Andrew Bohl took his new yacht for a spin with Ben Porter aboard as they took the bullet and put themselves in pole position for the World title.  Storms rolled in, no more racing on Saturday.  Sunday morning Anne steered the 217 to a furious rally off the right on the last beat to take the race, she's back in the saddle!  Glenn and Andrea on the B-22 kept the B-roll going and won race 3!  In other news, JoeB and crew on the 117 rallied from a tough Saturday to put all three races Sunday in the top 10.  In the final analysis John and Al took the title, with the 217 close behind in 3rd and the 23 in 4th.  Full results here: WORLDS

It's over!  Not enough breeze Sunday for any racing - it always blows on Beulah but alas not hard enough today...  The RC pulled the plug early so everyone could enjoy the beautiful fall day.  So the results remained unchanged from Saturday, John and Pat sail the 317 to victory once more!  Kent and Mike on B-12 were second, Rob and Vicki Clayton sailed the B-8 to 3rd.  Molly Guehrer captured the whole thing and got some terrific photos, click here: PHOTOS.  Full results are online right here so click away:  RESULTS - if you're on this list we thank you for coming and if you're not, we wish you were here!

Brian Brickler with Mike Tyriver Win C Blue Chip - "This one's for Kevin"

Consistency was key! With four most challenging light, shifty races, Brian Brickler returned to his top form and won the first C Blue Chip held at Okauchee YC. Beulah was again the most prolific lake with Kent Haeger/Mike Greeson, Ben Porter with Peter Keck (who finished third), Christine Porter/Joe Byrnes, David Porter/Kate Porter and Anne Muller, John Porter who sailed with Okauchee's Katie Bruder. Molly Guehrer was on scene and got a whole slew of great pictures of team Beulah, check them out here:  PIX  Nice writeup of the event with a couple other pictures can be found here:  RECAP  Full final standings can be found here:  RESULTS

2013 George Dorn Memorial, in the books!

The Beulah MC fleet hosted another successful event last weekend in memory of one of the giants of Beulah MC's, George Dorn.  The weather mostly cooperated, and the Beulah volunteers were out in full force, and good times were had by all!  In the final analysis Kent Haeger was is this year's champion - click here for a recap and some results: DORN
